This 16 Hour class is offered on weekends throughout the year. It is a required course for all perc dry cleaners located in New York State. This course and materials are offered in English, Korean and Spanish.

Basic Spotting 101

This is an entry level class designed to teach inexperienced or semi-experienced students the basics of stain removal. This is a perfect class for those that are interested in entering the dry cleaning business or for employers that are want to train or cross-training their current employees.

This class will cover:
Basic stain identification, Testing fabrics and dyes for serviceability. The proper and safe use of basic stain removal agents and "spotting" equipment The safe handling of fabrics Please note: The use of bleaching agents, digesters. and specialty chemicals will not be covered in this class. These topics will be presented during The Intermediate Stain Removal and Bleaching Class (scheduled February 24, 2013) and The Advanced Stain Removal and Intensive Bleaching Class (scheduled April 21, 2013). Standard Finishing

This is a foundational class designed to teach students the proper techniques and standards for professional garment finishing. This course is ideal for new or semi-experienced pressers, as well as employers looking to improve consistency and cross-train their staff.

This class will cover:
Introduction to pressing and finishing equipment including presses, leggers, toppers, and steam irons. The proper use of finishing tools such as sleeve boards, pads, and brushing systems. The correct application of steam, vacuum, and pressure for different fabric types. Techniques to prevent and correct shine, seam impressions, and distortion. Finishing methods for a variety of garments including slacks, jackets, dresses, blouses, and knitwear.

Couture Finishing INtensive

This is an advanced-level class designed for experienced pressers and garment care professionals who want to develop the skills required to handle high-end and delicate garments. This course is ideal for those working with luxury items or looking to elevate their finishing to a higher standard.

This class will cover:
Identification and handling of high-end fabrics including silks, specialty woolens, and velvet. Understanding garment construction and how it impacts finishing, including structured and unstructured garments. Techniques for working with trims, appliqués, and delicate details. Advanced finishing methods including pleating, fluting, and working with bonded fabrics. Correction of shine, seam impressions, and finishing flaws. Hand finishing techniques and blocking of knitted garments to restore original shape.

Please note: This is an advanced class. Students should have prior pressing experience, have completed Standard Pressing or Fibers & Fabrics training, or have at least two years of garment finishing experience.

Professional Wet Cleaning

Designed for those who want to expand their skills in the safe use of wetcleaning technology. The use of detergents, conditioners and machinery and their relationship in the processing of different fabric types.

Technical and Processing Training for CSRs
(Customer Service Representatives)

Providing customer service people with the basic technical information and skills needed to effectively communicate with the customer. Students will be able
to sell services and identify potential problems upon completion of the course.
